The power went out this morning before the alarm was supposed to go off, and did not come on again until mid morning. Fortunately, my alarm clock had just enough battery backup to sound the alarm even though the display was not illuminated. It beeped 2½ times, which was enough to get us up and moving, then died and didn’t come back to life. It died valiantly, doing its job with its last ounce of energy!

We chose to visit Cuyahoga Valley National Park to get our Fourth Grade “Every Kid in a Park” Pass in preparation for our trip out west in a few weeks.
Our 2018 Travel Adventures Begin
For Christmas 2017, we decided to forego all of the trinkets and small gifts, and made one big gift for the family – the gift of travel. On Christmas Day, we revealed to the kids our intent to bring them on a Spring Break trip to visit several National Parks out West. It is hard to say whether they were more excited for the opportunity to see the parks or to fly for the first time!
